Are Press-On Nails Bad for Your Nails?
Press-ons have been misunderstood for years, but the truth is, they’re not bad for your nails. The reputation they have comes from one thing: removing them incorrectly.
If you rip a press-on off without soaking first, there’s a risk you’ll damage your nail. However, if done correctly, press-ons are actually one of the gentlest manicure options available. No UV lamp. No electric filing. No uncured methacrylate. No harsh chemical removal. Just quick, salon-quality nails at home, and nails that come off without a trace when you're ready.
So where does the damage actually come from?
Nail damage from press-ons is almost always caused by force. Peeling, picking, or pulling a nail off before the adhesive has released properly takes a layer of your natural nail with it.
The fix is simple is to soak in warm soapy water for 15–20 minutes, then gently lift. If there's any resistance, stop and soak again. That's it.
Glaize Tips are designed to release cleanly. The only rule is patience.
What makes Glaize Tips safe?
Glaize Tips are made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic. The gel finish is HEMA-free, TPO-free, phthalate-free and PFAS-free, and no UV lamp is needed for application.
There's nothing in Glaize Tips that damages the natural nail. The process doesn't involve any of the things that actually thin nails at the salon, such as UV exposure or electric filing.
Press-Ons vs the Salon
Salons are often harder on nails than press-ons. UV lamps, electric files, and prolonged acetone soaks all strip and thin the nail plate over time. Glaize Tips skip all of it. Apply in 10 minutes at home. Remove with warm water. Keep your natural nails exactly as they are.

FAQ
Can press-on nails damage your nails?
Only if removed incorrectly. Always soak before lifting and never peel them off. For step-by-step removal, see our full guide here.
Are press-on nails safe to wear regularly?
Yes. Glaize Tips are designed for regular wear and made with thoughtfully chosen materials. With gentle removal, proper prep and occasional breaks between sets, they can fit easily into a healthy nail routine.
Depending on your application method, Glaize Tips can also be reused up to three times.
Do press-on nails ruin your nails over time?
No, not when worn and removed properly. Keeping nails hydrated with cuticle oil and taking short breaks between sets can help keep natural nails in great condition.
